The founder of Cake Theatrical Productions, a Singapore-based stage production company, Hennedige has directed, written, and starred in various stage plays in her professional career. In 2007, she was awarded the Young Artist Award by the National Arts Council. ==Early life== Hennedige was born 1975 in Singapore, to a working-class family. Her father is a Tanjong Katong-based dentist of Sinhalese ancestry and her mother, Irene, is a former businesswoman who ran a dental goods business. Hennedige has four younger sisters, three of which are doctors and one of which is a New York-based lawyer. As a child, Hennedige resided in Mountbatten with her family. She attended Haig Girls' School, Broadrick Secondary School, Victoria Junior College, and the Laselle College of the Arts.〔
